Founded in 2008 by Johannes Kalläne , medlegal quickly grew into a recognised and highly specialised boutique for the healthcare sector. The firm expanded considerably when it joined forces with Sozietät Prof. Dr. Prütting & Shirazi, a practice with which it had long been on friendly terms, on 1 January 2023. Without forgetting its roots. medlegal remains medlegal, with even more expertise in medical and healthcare law that reaches far beyond practical work. That is all the more true since 1 February 2025, when the team of the renowned Berlin office of the long-established firm Ehlers, Ehlers und Partner (EEP), led by Dr Melanie Arndt and Dr Johannes Arndt , together with the experienced Munich partner Karin Gräfin von Strachwitz-Helmstatt , joined medlegal. With Prof. Dr Martin Rehborn joining on 1 September 2025, medlegal also gained one of the leading experts in German medical and hospital law. Our team has grown to 20 experts in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Kiel and Dortmund. This further strengthens our position as one of the leading boutique firms in medical, care and healthcare law.
